The Gingr Prepaid Card is a fully virtual Mastercard debit card. There is no physical card. You add it to Apple Pay or Google Pay and pay contactlessly wherever Mastercard is accepted. Online, in stores and at NFC-enabled ATMs.

The card is linked directly to your Account Balance. You top it up from your balance and the amount is available within a few minutes. Top-ups start from CHF 100.

How you use the Prepaid Card

You use the card for online purchases, in-store payments via Apple Pay or Google Pay and cash withdrawals at NFC-enabled ATMs. International transactions are also possible.

Apply for the Prepaid Card

You apply for the card directly from your dashboard. A completed KYC verification is required. Because the card is virtual nothing is sent by post. Once the card is approved you can add it to Apple Pay or Google Pay and use it immediately.

Prepaid Card costs and fees

The card runs as a monthly subscription at CHF 49. The fee is deducted automatically from your balance. In addition the following transaction fees apply: CHF 0.55 per in-store or online payment, 2.75 per cent on foreign currency transactions and CHF 25 for chargebacks or disputes.

Important on currency: the card is denominated in USD. If you earn in CHF or another currency your earnings are converted to USD at the best available rate when you top up.

Do I absolutely need the card?
No. The card is an additional offering. You can also continue to have payouts sent exclusively to your bank account.
Is the card physical or virtual?
Virtual only. There is no physical card. Usage is via Apple Pay or Google Pay.
Is the card issued in my name?
Yes. The card is issued in the name registered during KYC verification.
What is the minimum top-up amount?
CHF 100. Top-ups are made directly from your Account Balance and are available within a few minutes.
What limits apply?
Per transaction a maximum of USD 10’000, per day a maximum of USD 15’000 and 20 transactions, per month a maximum of 500 transactions.
Can I use the card internationally?
Yes. It works worldwide at all Mastercard acceptance points. A fee of 2.75 per cent applies to foreign currency transactions. Due to international sanctions the card is not available to citizens or residents of certain countries (Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia, Syria).
What happens if my card is compromised?
Since the card is virtual it cannot be lost. If the card details are compromised you can block it via the dashboard and request a new one.
Can I transfer money from the card back to my bank account?
Not directly. For transfers to a bank account use the regular payout function from your Account Balance.
What happens if I cancel the subscription?
Cancellation is possible at any time by email or via the support portal and takes effect at the end of the following month. Any remaining balance on the card can be transferred to a bank account before deactivation. Outstanding fees are deducted beforehand.
Can gingr.ch see my card transactions?
No. Your transactions on the card are not visible to gingr.ch. gingr.ch only sees the top-ups from Account Balance to the card.
Is there a family card programme?
Not yet. A family and partner card programme as well as a virtual IBAN account are in preparation. With these you will be able to request additional virtual cards for family members and transfer funds securely within the Gingr ecosystem.
