WEF week changes the conditions for working in Davos. Some hotels are inside security zones. Notification deadlines apply to work assignments from abroad. Accommodation and travel affect your earnings. Which rules apply depends on your work status and meeting location.

What changes in Davos during WEF?

Access and travel. WEF 2027 takes place from 18 to 22 January. For your work, the location of the meeting matters. A hotel inside a security zone has additional access restrictions.

In 2026, Davos remained accessible by train and car. The authorities announced no general travel restrictions. However, checks took place on the access routes. Waiting times were possible. A short distance did not necessarily mean a quick journey.

The security information in this article concerns 2026. Information for 2027 is expected in winter. Until then, the previous hotel list provides a reference.

Do you need a permit in Graubünden?

Your work status matters. Graubünden has no specific cantonal prostitution law. With Swiss citizenship or a C permit, you do not need an immigration-related notification for the assignment or special cantonal registration as an escort. General tax and social insurance obligations remain.

The notification procedure may apply to short-term assignments from the EU/EFTA. In the erotic industry, notification is required from day one. There are no eight notification-free working days.

Who submits the notification depends on the work arrangement:

• Self-employed from the EU/EFTA: you submit the notification at least eight days before work begins.
• Short-term employment with a Swiss employer: the employer submits it no later than the previous day.
• Posted by an EU/EFTA business: the employer submits it at least eight days beforehand.

Your notification for Davos goes to KIGA Graubünden. The cantonal government's response on the situation of sex workers confirms this.

For changes, SEM lists four cases handled by email: the assignment date while respecting the eight-day notice period, duration, interruption and cancellation. All other changes require a new notification.

Under the wording of SEM's rule, a change to the notified work location also falls into this category. Moving an assignment from Zurich to Davos would therefore require a new notification referring to the previous one. This is our interpretation of the general rule.

Which hotels are inside the security zone?

Four in 2026. The cantonal WEF information names:

• Kongresshotel
• Hilton Garden Inn
• AlpenGold
• Belvédère

Other security zones covered the Congress Centre and the ice stadium. They also included the Lago heliport, the lakeside car park and the adjoining meadow. The zones for 2027 have not yet been announced.

The source mentions badges and vehicle permits for residents. It contains no separate access rule for booked escorts.

For choosing a meeting location, this means that a hotel outside the zone avoids this additional access barrier. That is our practical conclusion from the published restrictions. The hotel's visitor rules still apply.

Where do you stay that week?

Davos or Chur. Staying in Davos removes the daily journey from another town. Chur can serve as a base for outcalls. That means additional journeys to Davos and back.

Travel costs therefore come on top of the room price. Cheaper accommodation only saves money if those journeys do not cancel out the difference. For late appointments, a taxi journey can change the calculation.

For incalls, the accommodation must allow visits from clients. A room used only for sleeping serves a different purpose. If your incall address is in Chur, the visit takes place there. Appointments at clients' locations in Davos are outcalls.

Cancellation terms also affect your costs. Non-refundable accommodation remains an expense if bookings fall through. An enquiry alone does not cover that expense.

What does the week cost you?

Accommodation and travel. Your ongoing business expenses come on top. The indicative range on Gingr is CHF 300–800 per hour. This is not a measured WEF average. You set your own price.

Travel and any accommodation agreed with clients are transparently itemised as travel costs in the cost agreement. They are not built into the hourly rate. Your fee and travel expenses remain separate.

The breakdown shows the journey cost and the agreed accommodation contribution. Before booking, clients can therefore see what the booked time costs and what is charged separately.

For bookable outcall profiles, Gingr calculates travel at CHF 1.79 per kilometre. It appears separately in the booking overview. This does not create an automatic accommodation charge. A cost agreement and the way Gingr processes charges are separate matters.

Your own calculation includes every expense of the stay. Accommodation for several working days is initially your expense. Individual clients cover those costs only if agreed.

Expenses are deducted from your income. Taxes and social insurance contributions also belong in the calculation. Travelling reduces the time available for further bookings. A high hourly rate alone therefore says little about your weekly earnings.

How do you make your profile visible for Davos?

Through your meeting address. On Gingr, you can add Davos as an incall or outcall address. You can remove it after your stay.

For incalls, you receive clients at your address. For outcalls, you visit them. The location reflects what you offer during that week. You do not need to change your location permanently.

An English profile description also makes your offer understandable to international WEF guests. It contains the same information as the German version. This includes the meetings you offer and the languages you can use to make arrangements.

Frequently asked questions

Can I work for eight days without notification?

No. Under the EU/EFTA notification procedure, work in the erotic industry must be notified from day one. The eight-day advance notification period for cross-border services is a separate rule.

What is checked when arriving?

People, vehicles and luggage. The cantonal information for 2026 identifies dangerous items as the main reason for checks. It does not specify a special identification requirement for escorts. The rules governing your work apply independently.

Beratungszentrum Graubünden provides legal advice. Regional social services offer support with personal or financial difficulties. For sexual health, the government names Aids-Hilfe Graubünden and adebar. Victim support services help people affected by crime even without a police report.
